I’m Tim Ilko. I have a passion for drumming and teaching students of all ages and abilities. Above all things, I want my drum lessons to be fun while being informative and challenging. I believe everyone has some sense of rhythm that may just need a little guidance. My lessons put a focus on important “base-line” developmental concepts like reading notation and technique. Students will learn what they want to learn without missing out on the essentials. Guiding students to their “Ah-ha” moment is why I love to teach.
I’ve been playing the drums since 2000 and teaching on-and-off since 2002. I’ve been in several original bands (notably LAZ, Connibal Road) and was the back-line drummer for the house band at Howl At The Moon, the dueling piano bar that used to be located in Ballpark Village, from Aug 2014- July 2018. Currently I’m taking gigs backing some great local musicians, from independent bands to wedding/event bands to church/praise bands and even joining theater production tours like Million Dollar Time Machine (’23, ’25) and The Prophecy Show (’25). I perform with a Neil Diamond tribute called The Traveling Salvation Show, a Huey Lewis and the News tribute called Fake News, as well as F.I.R.E. (Females In Rock Experience) covering all of the amazingly talented ladies of Rock and Pop, and I’m working on releasing original music with Adios Puppy.
The studio has a traditional kit set up, as well as a few hand percussion instruments: a Djembe, Bongos, Cajon, and Bongo Cajon. We can also utilize audio and video recording in the studio.
